Giveaway! Win a 12X12 Canvas Print from Just Write Studios!

A wedding to remember

This past April I was fortunate enough to come across Jennifer Muffler from Just Write Studios in my search to add a calligraphy aspect to our A Walk to Remember styled shoot! After the shoot, items that each vendor has donated are typically given back to their owners, (unless they say we can keep them), but Jennifer had the awesome idea of doing a giveaway!

One lucky winner will be able to win this adorable canvas print illustrating a quote from 1 Corinthians, Chapter 13, verse 4 (pictured above) to be used in your home or in your very own wedding! In order to enter, be sure to EITHER comment on this post, share on Twitter, FB, or Instagram expressing your interest in this giveaway. Comments on either social media platform expressing you interest count as entries as well!

In addition to the giveaway we decided to learn a bit more about Jennifer and Just Write Studios with a little Q&A:

Jennifer, thank you so much for allowing us to give away the 12X12 canvas print used in our “A Walk to Remember” styled shoot this past April! Can you please tell us more about how you began a career in Calligraphy and how Just Write Studios was created?

A little over 10 years ago I was working in corporate America, but was looking for a more creative way to make a living. I took a calligraphy class while living in Florida and fell in love with lettering.  That first month I addressed envelopes for three brides and took those samples down to the local Crane and Co. store in Tampa,. It turned out I was the only one in town offering pointed pen calligraphy, so my business grew very quickly and I immediately said goodbye to my corporate job.   Three years later I moved to the DC area to get married, and never looked back.   The wedding business here is so much fun!  One day I could be writing in a super traditional script and the next day get to do something super modern.  There’s never a dull moment!

There seems to be a misconception that calligraphy is only about addressing letters. Can you tell us more about your services?

While addressing envelopes makes up a big part of my day, it’s the finishing touches or as I like to call it, the “day of” decor that is really popular right now.  I’d like to think that has something to do with all of the beautiful weddings featured on blogs, Pinterest and magazines.  Wedding couples and event planners are really thinking outside of the box to add calligraphic touches throughout the wedding day.  While it used to be just place cards and escort cards, now it’s everything from chalkboards, mirrors, large signs and windows to menus, programs and seating charts.

What has been your favorite piece of work you’re worked on so far?

I’d say my favorite thing right now is invitation design.  Starting with a blank sheet of paper one day and within a couple of weeks having the invitation ready to send out.  It’s a magical process.  While I’d love to pick just one invitation as my favorite, I really can’t.  Each one is so unique.  I just lettered an invitation for a design company that will debut at the National Stationery Show later this month.  I received the first pictures tonight and it’s truly amazing to see the process through from start to finish.  Hand Calligraphy goes together so well with letterpress and/or foil.  It’s combination that can’t be beat.

If there was anything in this world you’ve be doing besides calligraphy, what would it be?

If not calligraphy, I’d throw myself in to learning natural light wedding photography, newborn photography or cake decorating. I’ve never done any of them,  but love to spend time swooning over the photos online.

Thanks again Jennifer for allowing us to give away the 12X12 canvas print used in our “A Walk to Remember” styled shoot this past April and good luck to all entry submission.

*Giveaway ends on Sunday June 1st!*
