It’s a cold and snowy day in DC and we’ve got the latest tea for you. When planning your wedding, you think of the many important people you will invite. Almost right away you know who you will ask to join your bridal party on your special day. The last thing you think is that these chosen maids might not make the cut. Sadly, this may be the case that many brides have to endure. If you find yourself in this situation, continue reading on to see what you should do to fire a bridesmaid

Reasons can vary why this person might not work out. Unfortunately they may feel jealous of your joy, they aren’t picking up the slack, or there may be a more deep rooted issue there such as not financially being in a place to take on a responsibility such as being a bridesmaid, so in that capacity they may feel defensive as well. If after one-on-one conversations things with them still don’t seem to be improving, then you might need to take the next steps to ensure your own sanity.

So the main question is: How Do I fire a bridesmaid without seeming like a bad person?

  • Be polite. You don’t want to seem like an awful person and chances are you won’t feel so great having to do it either. Letting them go in the nicest way possible will be much better for your relationship in the long haul.
  • Say that your budget is smaller than you imagined and you have to scale back on everything. Make sure that you let them know you totally want them to be a guest.
  • Be honest. Feelings will probably be hurt but let them know why you are making this decision and that you still care for them. If the situation is not too bad, and you still want them at the wedding, let them know.

**If they already have bought their wedding party attire, it may be a good idea to reimburse them for it. **
