Lillian and Thomas’ wedding at Chesapeake Bay Foundation was such a vibe last year! Honestly, this was one wedding where I wish I could have taken a before photo. There was a lot of elbow grease that went into turning this more rustic wedding venue into the breathtaking space you’ll see below! From the modern decor details in their tablescape to the epic biodegradable confetti send off – the day was just perfect from the beginning to the end. I’m so glad that Lillian and Thomas trusted Simply Breathe Events to pull off their vision!
Ladies and gentlemen, let’s talk about Lillian’s wedding dress because it was a STUNNER! Lillian wore a gorgeous custom Marchesa gown from Kleinfelds, with delicate flower appliques. It was an absolute showstopper. And can we talk about her bridesmaids? They were equally stunning in their floor-length burgundy gowns, all mismatched in cohesive perfection but perfect for each woman’s body type. Meanwhile, Thomas and his groomsmen were looking sharp in their black suits and black bowties. Have you ever seen a more fashionable wedding group?
We love sentimental locations and unique venue choices! And after more than a decade in the wedding industry, we can make pretty much any space work. The wedding day started off in the heart of Annapolis at the stunning St. Anne’s Parish. Lillian’s family calls this beloved community home, and both Lillian and Thomas were thrilled to tie the knot in such a meaningful place. The gorgeous blusher veil could not hide Lillian’s bright smile! After their wedding ceremony, everyone made their way over to Chesapeake Bay Foundation (where her family are also members).
As guests arrived for their wedding at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, we kicked things off with an outdoor cocktail hour that was sure to impress. With oysters shucked in the tidewater Chesapeake style, Lillian and Thomas’ guests could sample delicious seafood while enjoying the stunning views around them. And for those who wanted to get a head start on the night’s festivities, Lillian’s sister designed a statement seating chart in black and white against the venue. It was the perfect way to set the tone for a night of celebration and fun!
Excuse us while we unapologetically share every angle of their wedding at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. At the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, wedding decor usually has a more rustic vibe, however our girl Lillian had a different vision in mind. She wanted something modern and unique, and we were happy to oblige. Personally, we were thrilled to take on the challenge and help bring her vision to life.
One of the changes we made was adding draping to the ceiling to conceal the more traditional “office look” of their ballroom space. We also made sure to open up the blinds, allowing guests to take in the breathtaking view of the Chesapeake Bay all night long. Instead of going for darker colors (which are typical in more modern palettes), we included an abundance of white flowers into the design with pops of moodier accents (like the black chargers and single strands of burgundy florals). The end result was a stunning modern wedding at Chesapeake Bay Foundation that truly stood out.
Complete with a breeze from the Bay, this wedding at Chesapeake Bay Foundation truly felt like the perfect ending to a beautiful summer season. Halfway through the evening, Lillian stunned everyone with an elegant sheath second look that perfectly captured her sophisticated style. And as the night drew to a close, the newlyweds were sent off with an epic biodegradable confetti sendoff, creating THE most magical end to the evening. But the night wasn’t over yet. After the reception at Chesapeake Bay Foundation, trolleys took guests back to downtown Annapolis, for more post-wedding fun.
A good wedding planner will understand your vision and work tirelessly to ensure every detail is executed flawlessly. That was us for Lillian and Thomas! We were thrilled to see our hard work come to life as we transformed the venue into a space worthy of their modern vision.
