DC Wedding Planner | How to Dress a Mixed Gender Wedding Party

Gone are the days when the girls stand on one side and the guys on the other. Today your best guy friend, can also be your Maid of Honor! Yup that’s right. Think Patrick Dempsey in Made of Honor.

*side note, I’ve been watching Grey’s Anatomy from season 1 and I’m obsessed!*

So now that you and your fiance have decided to mix things up a bit and have the opposite sex on either side, what are the dress codes? Unless they’ve graciously volunteered, they’re not going to wear one of the bridesmaid dresses you’ve picked out right?

What should they wear?

Did you check out Sara & Matt‘s wedding (pictured above) where in their mixed gender wedding party both of them have a member of the opposite sex on either side of them? It was orchestrated so well, you barely even realized things were mixed up a bit. To keep with the cohesiveness of the mixed gender wedding party, Sara’s “Manmaid” dressed in the exact same grey suit with the purple tie combo and Matt’s “Ladyman” wore a matching purple bridesmaid dress to match the rest of the ladies. It worked perfectly! Instead of two sides, they all became one.

Pretty easy right? I’d love to hear your suggestions. Are you having a mixed-gender wedding? How are you pulling it off?
