It seemed only fitting to finish out 2022 on the blog with a crazy wedding story! Adams Morgan (the neighborhood of Washington, DC where you’ll find the Line Hotel wedding venue) experienced a SIX-HOUR blackout the morning of Claire and Matthew’s wedding but as you scroll through the photos below, you’d never know! This stunning rooftop wedding at the Line Hotel would NOT have happened had we not been working with this team of absolutely rockstar wedding vendors (scroll to the end for a complete list!). At Simply Breathe Events, we only work with the best DC has to offer and Claire and Matthew’s wedding story reminds us not only of how important it is to build an experienced and professional wedding team but also how grateful we are for over a decade of stellar connections in the wedding industry! We can’t wait to see what 2023 brings!
Due to the blackout, The Line hotel was running on generators all day – in the middle of a rain storm, forcing us to run on borrowed time to find a backup plan in the event their wedding wouldn’t be able to happen on the venue’s breathtaking rooftop (plan A). A plan B in the event they would run out was needed fast! Fortunately (and I do mean, FORTUNATELY), less than an hour before the ceremony was set to begin, the power returned and the skies magically cleared. Clair and Matthew were able to have their summer DC rooftop wedding after all (and it was absolutely stunning).
Although mismatched bridesmaid dresses have been popular for a while now, we love how couples are taking it a step beyond different necklines and instead incorporating completely different colors and fabrics. Claire’s bridesmaids looked like a summer dream in shades of blush, sage and terracotta.
With power restored, it was all hands on deck as we quickly set up their gorgeous outdoor wedding reception. They chose a muted and natural wedding color palette and against the brick walls of the Line Hotel, it was perfection. The terracotta accents really popped. We might be biased but as DC and NYC wedding planners, a venue with a city skyline never gets old. If you love an open air wedding venue as much as we do, I highly recommend The Line Hotel rooftop wedding venue. With menu cards and place cards in every seat, there was nothing left to do but to watch Claire and Matthew’s guests enjoy an incredible (and memorable!) evening under the stars
One of the reasons you hire a wedding planner is to take care of the wedding day stress for you and in this case, it’s safe to say by the end of the evening everyone was simply breathing! When you hire us to plan your wedding, no matter what happens, we have your back. Always. Claire and Matthew’s rooftop wedding at the Line Hotel finished with a champagne tower for everyone. It was such a vibe.
I know we have said it throughout this post, but without the help of this star-studded vendor team, Claire and Matthew’s wedding day could have easily gone into shambles. As we tie the bow on 2022 and set our sites on 2023, we want to finish off by saying just how grateful we are for every single one of you (vendors, couples, and future couples alike!). If you are recently engaged and planning a wedding in 2023, connect with our team directly here. Otherwise, we will see you back on the blog (with weekly DC and NYC wedding inspiration) in the new year!
