Francesca and Matthew’s wedding at the DAR is giving us all the feels – and we can’t wait to share it with you today! We were introduced to this sweet couple through Francesca’s (Super Mom!) Teresa who helped them plan their big day, and all three of them were such a JOY to work with the entire time. The result was everything that Francesca and Matthew’s had envisioned and so much more! Prepare yourself for the simple elegance and Bridgerton-esque vibes that unfolded during their wedding at the DAR.

Getting Ready at the Ritz-Carlton Georgetown

The wedding day began in one of the gorgeous rooms at the Ritz-Carlton Georgetown (peek here to see a recent wedding there) and we were thrilled to be back there. Because Francesca and Matthew wanted their wedding to reflect “simple elegance” we leaned into an all-white wedding color palette. Special attention goes to Francesca’s jaw-dropping wedding dress – we were obsessed with its elegance (and LOVED the playful slit!).

An Outdoor Wedding at the DAR

When you hire us as your DC wedding planners, we will do whatever we can to move heaven and earth for you! And that’s exactly what we did for this gorgeous outdoor wedding ceremony at the DAR. There were multiple road closures for the Cherry Blossom Festival the same weekend and a torrential downpour right before the start of the ceremony. Fortunately, we could quickly pull it together to ensure Francesca and Matthew could enjoy the outdoor wedding of their dreams. We are always so grateful for such a fantastic vendor team (scroll to the end for credits!).

Bridgerton Wedding Style at the DAR Wedding Venue

The space was stunning, adorned with luscious florals and verdant greenery that evoked the romanticism of Bridgerton. Guests sipped on refreshing drinks and chatted with one another as they basked in the beauty! What made the whole affair even more special was that their florist, Stacy of Stacy Bowen Floral Design, had known the groom since childhood. You could see how thrilled she was to be a part of the couple’s big day – and her passion and attention to detail were evident in every arrangement she created.

A Lively Wedding Reception

Here Simply Breathe Events, we go above and beyond to make your wedding day experience not just beautiful, but also FUN! When guests emerged at the DAR’s terrace under the beautiful, starry night — the night kicked into full gear. Honorable mention also goes to the assorted desserts from Main Event, and the late-night boozy milkshakes that capped off the night perfectly.

From the Wedding Party to the guests, everyone could not stop raving about how beautiful the evening was. The SBE team and all of the wedding vendors (it takes a VILLAGE) worked together brilliantly to bring together an event that everybody will treasure forever. Cue the happy tears! It was a truly sensational wedding night, and we could not be prouder to have been part of it!

Lastly – let’s take a moment for the cake!

A feature of Francesca and Matthew’s wedding truly wouldn’t be complete without this sweet cake cutting (and the cutest best man we’ve ever seen!). Matthew’s son joined Francesca and Matthew to share the experience as they cut the cake together – and he was the one to enjoy the first bite! In his own words, it was scrumptious! We all absolutely adored him!
