Elegant. Refined. Minimalist. All words we would use to describe Alicia and Kevin’s chic wedding at the Ritz-Carlton Georgetown last year. They chose an understated palette of white florals and greenery with hints of navy, which was the perfect palette for their classic style. The night was full of memorable moments – like the couple’s heartfelt first dance or their grand exit with streamers. Simply Breathe Events was brought on for a day of coordination, and our second in command, Michel-le’ Weeks, brought their vision to life flawlessly.
DC Day of Coordinator
Alicia and Kevin were a joy to work with! They were nothing but kind and gracious, from our first call a few months before the wedding day to our final hug at the end of their wedding. We were so grateful to have been a part of their big day. Day of coordination is not always the easiest role for a wedding planner because sometimes we don’t always get a say in the vendors our couples have hired, but Alicia and Kevin had a team of rockstars who pulled together as a team to ensure they had an amazing wedding day despite the cold and rainy weather.
A Moment for the First Looks
While there were so many memorable moments from their wedding day, some of our favorites took place before the ceremony. Alicia made sure to fit in all the special “First Looks” including a first look with her parents and their wedding party. Of course, she saved the best for last (her first look with the Groom), which was emotional and heartfelt. No inclement weather could have stopped these two from getting married this day! They were READY.
During their family and wedding party portraits, everyone shared the same enjoyment in merging the two together. The excitement of the day was clear to see, and it was so fun for us as their wedding planners to see everyone so eager to celebrate with our happy couple!
An intimate wedding ceremony
We love when friends and family get involved in the ceremony. For Alicia and Kevin, their ceremony was officiated by the Godfather of the bride, and it was incredibly personal and memorable. On top of that, we also absolutely adored their simple yet elegant wedding ceremony decor. Their florist (scroll to the end for a complete list of wedding vendor credits), designed two large pillars from an abundance of greenery and white florals, which served as the perfect backdrop anchor for Alicia and Kevin to exchange their vows.
Elegant Wedding Reception at the Ritz-Carlton Georgetown
We love when our couples create something that is both minimal and impactful. The industrial aesthetic of their wedding venue, the Ritz-Carlton Georgetown, was perfect. Love filled the room for Alicia and Kevin as they spent the evening surrounded by family and friends.
Every wedding day is unique, so we would be remiss, not to mention just a few of the ways Alicia and Kevin’s wedding was one-of-a-kind. First, we need to give a special shout-out to the brother of the groom’s toast, which left not a dry eye in the house and ended up giving way to an impromptu speech from the sister of the groom (no siblings left behind!). Guests enjoyed favors of authentic tea and cookies, which was just one of the ways we loved about how Alicia and Kevin personalized their day. DJ RI5E kept the party going all night. The evening finished with a faux send off with bubble guns, ribbons, and bells that Alicia and Kevin made on their own. It was truly a night to remember and we were so grateful to have been a part of bringing it to life.
