If you’ve been soaking up all of the spring Bridgerton wedding vibes trending right now, you are going to love Jenelle and Martyn’s English garden-inspired wedding at Oxon Hill Manor. When Jenelle shared her vision of a garden wedding and Martyn shared his desire not to have his wedding in the middle of nowhere, I knew instantly that Oxon Hill Manor would be the best Maryland wedding venue for the two of them! The venue selection and planning began at the tail end of COVID, though, and the venue had restrictions that made them unable to see the venue in person. This is why it is SO important to hire a wedding planner you trust! They booked the venue from the few photos they saw online and our rave recommendation that it would be perfect.
Fast forward to a few months into the planning process, and the restrictions were lifted; we toured the venue in person, and they were both absolutely IN LOVE. Oxon Hill Manor truly was the perfect mixture that they were both looking for, and we could not have been more excited to help them create their perfect wedding day!
We created a soft spring wedding color palette for Janelle and Martyn to emulate the spring garden vibes they were envisioning for their wedding day. With soft hues of yellow, blush, and peaches, we loved incorporating color into their wedding design in a way that didn’t feel forced or overpowering. It felt romantic and classic.
On top of the design, the moments before their first look were truly a joy, as Jenelle and Martyn are two of the sweetest people ever. Together with their closest family and friends, we were ready to celebrate! Janelle was an absolute VISION in her lace wedding gown, and her bridesmaids looked bright and joyful in their pink hues. On the other side of the venue, the men looked equally dashing in their navy suits.
Storytime! While their wedding day was absolutely beautiful, you’ll remember this past spring was a WET one. Thank goodness rain on your wedding day brings good luck (and they hired wedding planners who have backup plans for their backup plans). While the rain made their outdoor first look location impractical, we found a spot on the stairs for these two to share a first look (and a few stunning wedding portraits before their wedding ceremony).
We will never recommend an outdoor wedding venue unless we can have an equally stunning backup option. Because of the inclement weather, we made the decision to bring the ceremony indoors. The abundance of colorful spring florals still gave off a whimsical and romantic garden wedding vibe, and together with the regal nature of the Oxon Hill Manor, created the perfect place for Janelle and Martyn to exchange their “I Do’s”.
The English garden wedding vibes continued for their outdoor tented wedding reception. We brought the outside in with an abundance of florals and greenery, and timeless wedding details at every turn (we loved the soft green linens and place cards at every seating). Greeting guests as they arrived was an escort display that doubled as their first toast of champagne for the newlywed. Everything felt like a breath of fresh air (who doesn’t like the smell of fresh rain, after all?). It ended up being pure perfection.
If there is time for a wedding room reveal, we will ALWAYS include it into our couple’s timeline. There is something about seeing the space you’ve spent a year or more dreaming about brought to life before your guests arrive. These are always my favorite moments on a wedding day and Janelle and Martyn’s reactions did not disappoint!
Overall, we could not have been more thrilled to be entrusted with the planning and design of Janelle and Martyn’s wedding at Oxon Hill Manor. We are beyond grateful that they trusted our guidance with their wedding venue selection, and that they let us create a backup plan well in advance for them to love when the rain started to come down. From start to finish, their wedding was an absolute joy!
