Whenever I need to take a moment and remind myself that all good things are worth the wait, I think back to Stephanie and Rusty’s stunning spring wedding at the Fairmont Washington DC. After rescheduling their wedding date THREE times during the global pandemic, when their day finally arrived I don’t know who was more excited – us or them! We had been daydreaming about all of the gorgeous details for what felt like forever. When we were finally able to bring our designs to life, it felt like magic. The Fairmont Washington will always be a vibe.
From their first look on the grand staircase to one of my favorite escort displays to date, I can’t wait to share the beautiful details of Stephanie and Rusty’s wedding with you today! Before I dive in, if you are new to our world let us just extend a sincere welcome. If you are planning a wedding and looking for a DC or NYC wedding planner, you are in the right place. You can learn more about the team at Simply Breathe Events here or find our planning packages here (we don’t hide pricing). If you love real wedding photos as much as we do, make sure to head over to our Instagram and say hi! We are always sharing our favorite days.
Our favorite couples want their wedding to be beautiful, but they also want to have a great time. While they were getting ready before the ceremony, Connor Studios captured their beautiful and sentimental details (like his blush polka dot tie with their wedding date embroidered and their whimsical wedding invitations suite) but they also captured some of the more fun elements (like her “I Do” slippers and his “no fox given” socks!). The best wedding details capture your love for one another and the joyful nature of your personalities so it was safe to say we were off to a great start before their wedding at the Fairmont DC.
Speaking of sweet and sentimental, we couldn’t help but share these precious black and white photos of Rusty and his family having fun with the kids during the getting ready photos. If these aren’t the most precious thing you have ever seen, I don’t know what is!
Iconic. Majestic. Captivating. All words that could be used to describe the grand staircase at the Fairmont Washington. While their entourage watched from above, Stephanie tapped Rusty’s shoulder and the two of them immediately embraced one another. Here at Simply Breathe Events, we always love when couples choose a first look. Not only does it take off a lot of the timeline pressure, but it also helps you relax a little (and ultimately, spend more time with your person on your wedding day).
If you love the security of an indoor wedding venue but love natural light, I can’t imagine a better DC wedding venue than the Fairmont Washington. They’ve recently renovated and have a gorgeous ceremony space with almost 360 degrees of floor-to-ceiling windows. For Stephanie and Rusty’s elevated ceremony, their altar was flanked by two greenery decorated with spring blooms pillars. Though their wedding ceremony at the Fairmont DC was short and sweet, it was followed by gathering their guests for a fun group photo! By this time, everyone was ready to party!
There were so many elements of Stephanie and Rusty’s wedding reception that I was obsessed with, but my absolute favorite had to be their floral escort display. We always love to add dimension to our wedding designs. Having a 3D display guests could interact with to find their names (and pause to smell the roses!) was such a welcome addition to this wedding at Fairmont Washington. As we mentioned above, this wedding had already been rescheduled three times. What better way to let their handpicked guests know how much they appreciate them than with a gorgeous escort display?
The natural light of the wedding space brought their blush and blue wedding color palette to life throughout the rest of their wedding reception decor. On top of gorgeous pastel floral centerpieces, we added tall blush taper candles for a little extra ambiance.
Beyond the beautiful details on this wedding, we also loved seeing how much fun guests had as they arrived in the space! The entire room was filled with so much love and laughter. Of course, it goes without saying that Stephanie and Rusty’s energy was contagious.
Although Stephanie and Rusty chose to have a smaller guest count due to COVID, most of their family and friends lived outside of DC. While over-the-top soirees are our jam, the intimate atmosphere that comes with a micro-wedding guest list has become some of our faves. We were beyond honored to be trusted with their day. If you are looking for a (dare we say it) relaxing and joyful wedding planning experience, we would love to hear more about your vision too.
